BEHIND THE STYLIST

I live by my motto, “create community and be generous.”

I am hair stylist, entrepreneur and new mom, Amanda Riley. I stepped onto my path as a stylist in 2008, and since then it has guided me to my passions; building lasting client relationships, growing my businesses and nurturing the vibrant Los Angeles beauty community. Together with the loves of my life—my wonderful husband, our son Rooney & doggies —these passions make up who I am.

Walking out of the salon with a fresh look can put a pep in your step or inspire you to flirt with a cute stranger. It’s simple; looking good feels great! I love helping people look and feel their very best, and my clients trust me to consistently make that happen. Trust is the key to my lasting client relationships. My extensive training, expertise and certifications invite trust, but it’s the care, attention and stunning results I give my clients that truly earn it. I am a certified Wella Master Color Expert, and color is my specialty. I’m best known for creating rich coppers, blondes and brunettes that my clients can’t wait to show off.

It should come as no surprise that I feel at home in a salon. It’s where I’ve spent so much time learning, perfecting my craft and getting to know my clients. For them (and you!) it’s a place to relax and escape the everyday routine. I opened Summer Hours salon in June 2020 to be that place for all of us. There, myself and a team of independent, seasoned stylists host our clients, expand our networks and grow our businesses.

In addition to being a stylist and salon owner, I am an educator. In 2019, I founded The Glow Social, a series of educational, meet-up style events to connect beauty pros and new stylists for learning and mutual support. I also offer in-person classes and 1:1 coaching to share tips & tricks I’ve picked up in my career.

I became a mom in March 2023 and it has wonderfully impacted the way I operate my business as a stylist. Working on my salon Summer Hours and new business venture Heavy Water Coffee Shop behind the scenes allows me more time at home to raise my family. You will find my appointment availability more limited these days and I’m honored to have flexibility in this new era of motherhood.
